True Anomaly will deliver its Jackal spacecraft for GHOST-R, the mission that is paving the way for RG-XX, the USSF’s program of record to establish a highly maneuverable and proliferated reconnaissance layer in GEO.

Centennial, Colo., September 18, 2026 — Geosynchronous orbit (GEO) is becoming contested, and the mission set is evolving to meet it. GEO is home to capabilities our nation depends on: advanced missile warning, global strategic communications, and national intelligence assets, all parked over fixed points on Earth because the mission demands persistence. For most of the space age, this orbit was sparsely populated and required little active monitoring. That condition has changed. As more systems operate in GEO and maneuver with greater capability, the ability to pursue, approach, and characterize objects in that regime has become a prerequisite for defending what lives there. GHOST-R is the first step for the United States in building it.
True Anomaly was selected by the Department of War Innovation Unit (DIU) to deliver its Jackal autonomous orbital vehicle for the Geosynchronous High-Resolution Optical Space-Based Tactical Reconnaissance (GHOST-R) program. GHOST-R paves the way for the success of RG-XX, the United States Space Force’s (USSF) program of record for establishing a persistent, highly maneuverable, and proliferated constellation in GEO for space domain awareness.

The strategic logic of GEO has advanced faster than today’s architecture defending it. Critical infrastructure is concentrating in the orbit, adversary platforms increasingly operate there, and the U.S. has lacked a responsive means to image and track those objects from close range in space-to-space operations, instead of from the ground, where atmospheric and range limits cap what optical and radar systems can resolve at GEO distances.
GHOST-R aims to help develop the ground integration cadence, stand up operator command-and-control (C2) training, and codify the tactics, techniques, and procedures for rapid response. The project will build the operational muscle that is required to scale, at speed, to deliver a proliferated reconnaissance layer in GEO for the RG-XX program of record.
Space-based reconnaissance has historically depended on small numbers of exquisite, bespoke systems, extraordinary capability, built on multi-year timelines, concentrated cost, and single points of failure. This math does not work in the reality of contested space. A proliferated layer built on commercially derived platforms inverts that math, and Jackal is the first spacecraft delivered against this need to drive per-unit cost down, mission tempo up, and distribute the risk so that the loss of any one vehicle does not degrade the mission. The objective is high-resolution space-to-space imagery of resident space objects, both friendly and adversary, at a frequency and cost the existing model cannot reach.
True Anomaly will deliver its latest Jackal platform and initially operate it jointly with USSF mission operators. Following that period of joint operations, Jackal transitions to a Government-owned, Government-operated on-orbit asset for the RG-XX program.
Jackal is a highly maneuverable autonomous orbital vehicle purpose-built for space-to-space engagements. A single vehicle is designed to surveil dozens of satellites, investigate anomalies on friendly assets, and maintain custody of high-value targets across multi-year missions. These are the endurance and proximity operations that GEO reconnaissance depends on.
True Anomaly will also deploy Mosaic, its multi-vehicle, multi-domain C2 system for mission planning, analysis, and training on this program. Mosaic's use on GHOST-R directly informs the development of the full-constellation C2 software that a proliferated GEO layer will ultimately require.
