Today, True Anomaly’s JACKAL-0004 spacecraft officially begins VICTUS HAZE mission operations. Alongside Rocket Lab and partners from the United States Space Force, True Anomaly will operate the Jackal spacecraft as part of the USSF’s most advanced demonstration of Tactically Responsive Space (TacRS) to date.
Following the successful Mission X-3 flight test program and commissioning of JACKAL-0004 and Mosaic, the True Anomaly spacecraft operations team is fully operational and ready to execute rendezvous and proximity operations (RPO).
“The unwarned deployment of agile adversary engagement platforms into low Earth orbit and geosynchronous Earth orbit is driving the operational need to perform space superiority missions within minutes or hours from tasking,” said Even Rogers, co-founder and CEO of True Anomaly. “VICTUS HAZE stresses the entire required chain of associated effects and actions, from launch warning to rendezvous to timely image processing and dissemination. True Anomaly’s capabilities are purpose-built for these operations and we’re excited to demonstrate what becomes possible when industry and warfighters work side-by-side to tackle operational problems end-to-end.”
VICTUS HAZE builds on the foundation established by its predecessor, VICTUS NOX, and pushes the operational envelope into new territory. VICTUS HAZE encompasses the full scope of TacRS operations: rapid launch and initialization, followed by operationally relevant 1-on-1 RPO between Rocket Lab and True Anomaly spacecraft in low Earth orbit (LEO).
The objectives of VICTUS HAZE go beyond the technical. This mission is designed to:
True Anomaly’s Jackal is built without compromise for space superiority missions, including reconnaissance through RPO in congested and contested space environments. Its architecture is modular, cost effective, and scalable, underpinned by a high-performance propulsion stack to outpace threats in any orbit, at any time.
JACKAL-0004 is True Anomaly’s fourth spacecraft launched in four years since the founding of the company and represents the maturation of that platform: a fielded, flight-proven spacecraft capable of executing the operational profiles that TacRS demands.
Jackal is commanded by Mosaic, True Anomaly’s multi-vehicle, multi-domain command and control system that transforms commander intent into autonomous action, giving operators the ability to orient, decide, and act with unmatched precision and speed across congested and contested orbital environments. Mosaic will be central to JACKAL-0004’s performance in VICTUS HAZE.
The threat environment in space is evolving faster than at any point in history. Adversaries are fielding advanced systems to novel orbits, at higher volumes, and with growing sophistication. The United States cannot afford to respond to on-orbit threats on timelines measured in months. Today, that response must happen in minutes or hours.
TacRS is the military’s capability to do exactly that: detect and respond to and emerging on-orbit threat and respond with decisive speed. These tactics and speed are foundational shifts in how the United States must operate in space to maintain superiority and secure the Nation’s interests in, from, and to space.
True Anomaly is proud to work alongside Rocket Lab, Space Systems Command’s Space Safari program office, and the USSF operations community to execute this mission.
Space Safari is pushing the boundaries of TacRS to advance the Nation's ability to respond to threats at the speed of relevance. This is exactly the kind of government-industry partnership that makes the United States competitive in the modern space domain: commercial innovation moving at commercial speed, integrated with the rigor and operational focus of the Space Force.
VICTUS HAZE will generate the data, operational experience, and institutional knowledge the Space Force needs to make TacRS a ready, repeatable capability. Every task that True Anomaly and Rocket Lab complete during this mission advances that goal.
True Anomaly was founded to solve the toughest problems in space superiority. There is no harder or more important problem right now than ensuring the United States can respond to on-orbit threats faster than its adversaries can act. VICTUS HAZE is a major step toward that future.
JACKAL-0004 is on orbit. The mission has begun.
